Current law students are invited to join AALAM for free. Law student members have all the benefits of AALAM membership except that they cannot vote in AALAM elections and do not receive automatic NAPABA membership.
AALAM/Dow Fund Scholarship Award
Since 1997, AALAM has awarded the annual AALAM/Dow Fund Scholarship Award to an Asian American law student who demonstrates leadership potential, maturity and responsibility, a commitment to making a contribution to the Asian American community and other indicia of excellence, whether personal, professional, or academic. Priority consideration is given to law students who have secured a public interest position for the summer. In 2023, the scholarship amount tripled to $15,000.This year, the AALAM/Dow Scholarship recipient will be announced at Annual AALAM Banquet taking place in October 2024 and invited to speak at the Annual Dow dinner taking place in December 2024. Professional Development and Networking Opportunities
AALAM organizes numerous events that offer professional development and networking opportunities to law students, among others. These events include our annual Speed Mentoring Nights, annual Summer Associates Luncheon, and regular Happy Hour networking events. We also invite students to volunteer to help with various AALAM events and initiatives, which provides a more casual and informal way to get to know AALAM's professional members.
